Hitesh Kumar was only 6 years old when his father and Lance Naik Bachchan Singh died in the 1999 Kargil war. The lion of Rajputana rifle was martyred on 12 June 1999 in Tololing. When Hitesh received this news, he took a pledge that he would grow up and be admitted to the Indian Army. Right after 19 years, Hitesh passed the Dehradun as a lieutenant from the Indian Military Academy.
Not only this, he has become part of his father’s battalion. After passing out parade of Military Academy, Kumar paid tribute to his martyr father in the Civil Lines area of Muzaffarnagar. Hitesh said, “For 19 years, I only dreamed of recruiting Indian Army . It was a dream of my mother too. Now I want to serve the nation with full sincerity and pride. “
Hitesh’s mother, Kamesh Bala, said on the memorial of the Kargil martyr, who cried, “After Bachchan’s martyrdom life has become very difficult. I dedicate my whole life to the care of our two sons. Today I am very happy that Hitesh has become a part of the army. Her younger brother Hemant is also preparing to join the army. More than this, I can not ask for anything more. ‘
Bachchan’s friend Rishipal Singh said, “Bachchan was a brave soldier. When our battalion was attacked in Tololing, he got shot in his head and he became a martyr on the battlefield. That day we lost our 17 soldiers. Which included Major Vivek Gupta of Dehradun. I am very happy that Bachchan’s son has been admitted to the army. His father would be proud of him. ‘
